Troy-Bilt has manufactured lawn equipment since it built its first rototiller in 1937, according to Troy-Bilt's website. The company's lawn equipment includes several models of walk-behind, or push, mowers. Mower designs change as new models are produced, and finding replacement parts for your particular push mower may require you to know your machine's year of manufacture and model. Luckily, you don't have to locate your mower manual to find the mower's model, or model number; it is located on the mower. The mower's serial number also is on the mower, and having the model and serial numbers will enable you to learn the year the mower was produced.
1
Look for a white, rectangular label on the rear of the mower deck's left side. The label is about 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall. You may have to wipe grass from the mower to see the label clearly. If the mower was manufactured before 1997, the label may be on the top of the mower deck.
2
Look at the top of the label. The model number is at the top left portion of the label, and the serial number is on the top right portion. The model number for push mowers starts with an 11 or 12. Write the model number and serial number on a piece of paper.
3
Call the Troy-Bilt customer service number, 800-828-5500, between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time any day of the week. Have the model and serial numbers available when you call.
4
Give the model and serial numbers to the customer service representative to whom you speak. The representative will use the numbers to tell you the year your mower was manufactured. The year of manufacture is not located on the mower.
