I noticed after a clean install of Win 10 Pro that in the Device Manager I had two 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller' entries that showed the driver dated in 2006. I run 2 x SSD's a HDD and a BluRay writer.
So I downloaded the latest version of SATA drivers at the Asus ROG site for my motherboard. After running, one entry in Device Manager has changed to 'Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller' but the other remains 'Standard SATA AHCI Controller' - still with the 2006 driver version 10.0.10240.16384 dated 2006/06/21
Is this correct? Windows reports that it is the most current driver.
ALSO: The driver installed 'Intel Rapid Storage Technology' program. Do I need this? If I do need it, must it be enabled at start up? I am wondering if it might conflict with Samsung's Magician which I also have installed?

Using the default AHCI controller will decrease the Sequential reads/writes and the 512k reads considerablly as opposed to the Intel RST (ver 9) driver. All of my other SSds (Intel 80 gig G1 & G2, 128 Gig Torqz, WD blue 128 Gig) come very close to specs using the AHCI uSoft driver. This driver would enable the use of all 6 SATA ports on the server board. This driver contains two driver packages, one for the x86 version of Microsoft Windows* ( 32bit directory when extracted), the other is for the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows ( 64bit directory). This is not the SATA RAID driver. During driver installation, choose 'Intel® ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller' from driver list for S5500 based server. Both of AHCI and IDE are the modes in which a hard drive communicates with Windows 10, 7, 8 by SATA controller driver. However, compared with IDE, AHCI runs faster and possesses with more advantages, such as hot-plugging and native command queuing.
